London Fields beat Tower Hamlets by 7 wickets
by Tom Goodwin
The cloud was high, the wicket was green and the bails were balanced for London Fields to start the new 40 over league in style with a comfortable 7 wickets win over Tower Hamlets. Memories of last years opening league game were put to rest.
London Fields won the toss and elected to bowl on a soft wicket. Troy and and Sanders started well, both getting decent cut off the wicket. Troy found (what appeared) to be a thick outside edge which Robin swallowed, reaching to his right. The batsman didn’t move and the tension heightened.
The turning point of the game came after drinks with Taz's haul of 6 for 17, which was one run short of beating the all time Fields bowling figures held by Ben Sanders of 6-16. This momentum after drinks led us to bowl Tower Hamlets out for 115 with 5 overs to spare.
Dave Krohn's frustration of not getting a bowl, after a 5 wicket haul the week before, led the poor man to cycle around the Olympic Park looking for answers. The multiple canal side pints could then have been a factor in a later bike incident at Olympic Park...
In response Fields chased down the total losing only 3 wickets with Robin leading the way with an unbeaten 63.
